Appointed to Florida Board of Accountancy
ENTERPRISE, AL. (January 14, 2009) – Carr Riggs & Ingram, LLC
(CRI) Partner Steve Riggs has been named to the Florida Board of Accountancy,
which establishes standards for the accounting profession and business practices
in the state. Florida Gov. Charlie Crist appointed him to serve a four-year term
on the board.
Riggs, who is Partner-In-Charge of CRI’s Destin, Fla., office, was selected to
fill the position because of his strong reputation as a Destin business leader
and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He was nominated for the post by Fla.
Sen. Don Gaetz (R-Niceville) and Speaker of the House Ray Sansom (R-Destin).
Riggs has a long list of distinguished professional and community contributions,
including service as president of the Economic Development Council, member of
the University of West Florida (UWF) presidential selection committee, and
benefactor of Steve Riggs Stadium at Fort Walton Beach High School, his alma
mater. He recently was honored with UWF’s highest alumni achievement award.

is charged with a critical role not only in how we as professionals conduct our
business, but how business is done in the state,” said William H. Carr, chairman

Riggs has 20 years of experience in accounting and consulting services and
specializes in mergers and acquisitions, income tax planning, retirement
planning, IRS audit representation, divorce settlement negotiations and tax
planning, fraud auditing and forensic accounting matters. He frequently provides
litigation support and testifies in court as an expert witness. As a former IRS
agent, Riggs understands the intricacies of the agency and how to work within it
for the benefit of his clients. He often obtains results in a fraction of the
time typically required of accountants not familiar with the internal workings
of the Service.
