2009 Atlanta Economic Survey Results
CRI's Atlanta office recently conducted a "State of the Economy" survey
including forecasts from more than 200 clients, business associates, and opinion
leaders. Some of the highlights include:
- One-third of participants are pessimistic and see continued
problems with the economy.
- More than 70% of respondents plan to maintain current
staffing levels in 2010; 16% plan to add staff.
- Slightly more than half believe the economy is improving, up
from 21% in 2005. Additionally, only 10% believe it's worsening,
which is down from 52% last year.
- More than half of the respondents expect revenues will
increase in 2010; only one in four expect a decline.
- Customer demand, collections and credit were cited as the
three most significant challenges.
- Cuts in capital spending, travel restrictions, and hiring
freezes continue to be key strategies in dealing with the
economic malaise.
- Only 5% of participants are preparing for the new
international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
