Monk Re-Appointed to Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards

Enterprise, AL - (April 1, 2010) - Carr, Riggs & Ingram
(CRI), the 34th largest firm nationally and 4th largest regionally in the
Southeast, recently announced the appointment of two of their partners to
distinguished accounting boards.
Harold
L. Monk, Jr., CPA, CFE, has been re-appointed to the
Advisory Council
on Government Auditing Standards, and
M. Chad
Singletary, CPA, has been appointed to the
Alabama State Board of
Accountancy.
The Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards provides guidance to
the Comptroller General to provide a framework to auditors so their work leads
to improved government management, decision making, oversight and
accountability. Monk, Partner-in-Charge of the CRI
Gainesville
office, is a nationally recognized expert on accounting and auditing standards
and has diligently served the Council since 2002. Active professionally, he is a
former member of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA) and previously served as a member of the Florida
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) Board of Governors. A previous
adjunct auditing instructor for the University of Florida's School of
Accounting, Monk has published articles in the Florida Accounting News,
the CPA Journal, and the Journal of Accountancy, while
Accounting Today named him one of the 100 most influential people in
accounting for four years.
Simultaneously, the Governor has appointed--and the Alabama Senate has
confirmed--new members to the Alabama State Board of Accountancy, the regulatory
body governing CPAs in Alabama, including M. Chad Singletary, CPA and CRI
partner in the
Montgomery
office. With over seventeen years of experience, his career has focused on
directing auditing, accounting, regulatory compliance, consulting, and taxation
engagements for various organizations primarily in the insurance and tax exempt
sectors. Singletary's experience includes work in insurance industry regulatory
compliance and tax exempt organization OMG A-133 audits. He currently serves as
a member of CRI's Quality Control Committee and as a board member for the
Alabama Council of Association Executives.
